Today was Mason's first day of preschool. He is only 3 so we decided that for the first of his two years of preschool we would send him to my neighbor's preschool. She is a super sweet gal with a great school and Mason is very, very excited. School will be twice a week for two hours. Today Mason slept in until almost 9, but when he woke up he couldn't wait to get his backpack on and go. He ate, brushed his teeth, got dressed quicker than I've ever experienced with him, and wanted his hair done. My neighbor doesn't live very far from us, so I was planning on walking. Mason informed me, however, that you drive to school so we drove instead. Hopefully I can convince him to walk next time since it really is a ridiculous distance to drive. They were asked to bring their favorite toy for show and tell and Mason chose his GeoTrax train.

He is telling me just how excited he is. |

And here he is scoping out the kids who are starting to show up. He's trying to put up with his camera-happy mom. He's a good sport. |

Saying goodbye to sis. She wanted to stay and play, but instead was drug home. She did get her first cup of chocolate milk when she got home. It went over pretty darn well. |

Heading in. |

By this time I was lingering a little too long. Again, he was trying to be nice. |

He went to his assessment with his teacher last week. He does pretty well for himself. He knows and recognizes all his letters and some of the sounds they make. Can count to 30 (+ if I help him switch to a new set of 10s). He has known his colors and all that for years. He can write a few letters and he loves shapes. In fact, while she was holding up the flashcards for the shapes she had to pause to talk to her son for a minute. Mason stood up and looked at her sheet (which had the shapes on it so she could check which ones he knew) and started naming them. Triangle, oval, rectangle, octagon, hexagon. I'm excited for him to learn, but even more importantly he is excited to learn. He really loves to learn and has no problem reviewing things over and over. In fact, after Sage was born it was a magnet board and little magnet letters that both helped him adjust to less attention and saved my sanity. He really is a smart kid.
After the assessment last week I was explaining to him how it was all going to go down. I told him that I would take him there, drop him off, and be back to get him when he was done. Today while I was lingering longer he, very sweetly, told me that I was going to leave, but that I could come right back and get him when he was done. Good thing he was there to comfort me. He had a great day and Sage and I had fun hanging out together too. I think we're going to like preschool.

Awe! How fun! He looks adorable and so much like Nic in these pictures. What a smart boy! And don't feel bad about the lingering thing, I'll be the mom that is sitting outside in my car waiting for B to get done. Guaranteed.
Seriously the cutest kid ever!!! We had such a fun day, I told Everett that I wished I had just one more hour with them today, because they did so well and were so much fun! Good thing I get to see them on Thursday!
